Note, in terms of weather and climate in
Acre, June to September is very dry and hot, and January to March is torrential.
December can often be a difficult month to travel in because of the holidays.
The shoulder periods of April-May and October-November can be kinder.

Cost

An AUD 500 deposit is required for reservation, and may be made online with
PayPal (Visa or MasterCard).
This non-refundable deposit includes a complimentary copy of Alex Polari's
book, Forest of Visions (Park Street Press, 1999).
Notes
This is an educational tour to learn about the Santo Daime tradition and
share their experience of contemporary Brazilian culture.
This will not be a luxury tour, nor budget travel, but will be comfortable
at the prevailing Brazilian standard.
Participants will be expected to partake in all activities as a group.
Be aware, photographing or recording ceremonies may not be appropriate;
however, there will be ample opportunities between ceremonies.
Terms
Domestic costs include at least two typical Brazilian meals a day for 3 weeks
(21 days), 20
nights of Brazilian-style accommodation (based on double occupancy), ground transport, and group activities. A
Portuguese-speaking Australian guide will accompany the group, and English-speaking Brazilian guide(s)
will be available. Note, meals may include meat or fish; vegetarian
options must be arranged in advance. Accommodation may occasionally
include hammocks, customary to Amazonia. Group size should be from 10 to
15 people.
Cost includes domestic round trip airfare between Rio de Janeiro and Rio
Branco, Acre.
International airfare is not included; however, advice
and assistance may be provided arranging this. NB, round trip airfare
from Australia to Brazil should be compared with an around the world ticket.
Round trip or return air ticket details are necessary for visa
application. Group members are responsible for getting their own
passports and
Brazilian Tourist Visa, though advice
and assistance with this may be provided.

Conditions
Due to the special nature of this experience all participants must:
 | submit a letter a minimum of 30 days prior to departure signed by
a physician stating that the participant is fit and healthy for unusual and adventurous
travel in
Brazil and the Amazon, that they are not currently taking any psychiatric
medication, and have never been in psychiatric hospitalization |
