The Family of Juramidam - Raimundo Irineu Serra and the children of the
Santo Daime doctrine
A Família Juramidam - Raimundo Irineu
Serra e os filhos da doutrina do Santo
Daime
http://www.afamiliajuramidam.org [English]
 | This is a new and
interesting site
in which Rodrigo Conti traces the
genealogy of the Family of
Juramidam - the children
of the Santo Daime doctrine, previously an
obscure, esoteric oral tradition. |
CEFLURIS - Centro Eclético da Fluente Luz Universal Raimundo Irineu Serra
Santo Daime - A Doutrina da Floresta
http://www.santodaime.org [English]
 | CEFLURIS roughly translates into the "Raimundo Irineu Serra
Eclectic Center of the Universal Flowing Light", and is the Daime line (or
linha in Portuguese) founded by Padrinho Sebastião (Sebastião Mota de Melo),
a disciple of Mestre Irineu, in October 1974 in Rio Branco, Acre.
According to Sebastião's son Alfredo, the current president, there was some
conflict, presumably with Leôncio Gomes, over raising the Brazilian flag at
night in the church that drove Sebastião to create his own "eclectic" line. |
CEFLUSMME - Centro Eclético de Fluente Luz Universal Sebastião Mota de Melo
Céu do Mar, Rio de Janeiro - RJ
http://www.ceudomar.org [English]
 | In the spirit of Padrinho Sebastião's "eclectic" lines, his
son-in-law Padrinho Paulo Roberto (Paulo Roberto Silva e Souza) seems to have
registered his church in Rio de Janeiro, called Céu do Mar (something
like "Heaven of the Sea" in English), as a private nature reserve,
RPPN or Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural in Portuguese, in
1994 under the name of CEFLUSMME, or "Sebastião Mota de Melo Eclectic Center
of the Universal Flowing Light". |
CEFLI - Centro Eclético Flor do Lótus Iluminado
Luiz Mendes
http://www.luizmendes.org
 | CEFLI roughly translates into "Eclectic Center of the
Illuminated Lotus Flower", and was founded by Mestre-Conselheiro
(Master-Counselor) Luiz Mendes do Nascimento, a disciple of Mestre Irineu.
Luiz Mendes apparently succeeded Francisco Fernandes Filho (Tetéu or Teteo)
after Tetéu split from CICLU-Alto Santo, not being able to get along with Mestre Irineu's widow, Dona Peregrina Gomes Serra,
following her uncle Leôncio Gomes' passing. Presumably CEFLI was created
as an alternative to the disputed CICLU line, the original Daime church
founded by Mestre Irineu. |
CICLUMIG - Centro de Iluminação Cristã Luz Universal de Minas Gerais
Flor do Céu
http://www.mestreirineu.org
 | CICLUMIG stands for something like "Center of Illumination
Universal Christian Light of Minas Gerais", and is the official name of the
Flor do Céu (or "Flower of Heaven") church near Belo Horizonte, in the
eastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais; however, despite the CICLU
appellation Flor do Céu is actually a CEFLI church, of Luiz Mendes' line. |
Barquinha - Centro Espirita e Obras de Caridade Principe Espadarte
Site Oficial da Barquinha
http://www.abarquinha.org.br
 | Barquinha means "Little Boat" and is something else again,
another doctrine, though closely associated with Santo Daime. The founder
Daniel Pereira de Matos was a contemporary and associate of Mestre Irineu, and
like Irineu came from the same northeastern Brazilian state of Maranhão.
Daniel Pereira received Santo Daime from Mestre Irineu. His Barquinha
line apparently resulted from a vision and was founded as a healing work,
guided by the patron saint Francis of Assisi, and was established with the
blessing of Mestre Irineu. (There is a fairly informative 1991
documentary in Portuguese with
French subtitles by Patrick Deshayes
about Barquinha, called
O Santo Daime.) |
UDV - Centro Espírita Beneficente União do Vegetal
União do Vegetal
http://www.udv.org.br
 | União do Vegetal means the "union
of plants", or "Sacred Union" as they prefer. Members
of the UDV (or Vegetalistas) are not strictly speaking Daimistas
and do not follow the doctrine of Mestre Irineu. The UDV was founded in
1961 in Porto Velho, Rondonia, by Mestre Gabriel (José Gabriel da Costa),
originally from the eastern state of Bahia, and who like Mestre Irineu came to
Amazonia to work as a rubber tapper and first encountered ayahuasca (which
they call hoasca/oaska or vegetal) in Bolivia. |
Religious Freedom, the United States Supreme Court and the União do Vegetal
http://www.udvusa.com
 | In February 2006 the US Supreme Court unanimously approved the
religious use of ayahuasca by the União do Vegetal, stemming from a May
1999 government interdiction in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the church of
Mestre Jeffrey Bronfman, president of the American branch of UDV. |

medicinal plants from the Amazon rainforest, as well as the acclimation of
species from other regions, in a small medicinal garden in the village of
Céu do Mapiá, and now offer courses, books, and flower essences. |
